- Flow-Through Models – A flow through humidifier stores water in an evaporator pad that is used to distribute moisture throughout your home. This pad is exposed to a continuous flow of water that always keep it moist. These are efficient and easy to maintain models.
- Drum Humidifiers – This is probably the most basic model available. A motor powers a rotating belt that pass through a small water tray. The water then evaporates off the belt and into the air. This air is then sucked into your ducts and spread around. While these humidifiers are not particularly precise, they are generally the cheapest available models. They do however usually require more maintenance.
